Elevated Liver Enzymes and Hydroxycut
According to recent news reports, 14 different Hydroxycut weight loss products are being
recalled because there is a suspicion that they may cause elevated liver enzyme levels. It was recently recalled by
the Food and Drug Administration.
There is one report of a 19-year-old man who died while taking Hydroxycut, and 23 reports of
liver damage and elevated liver enzymes related to this product, which is sold as a low
cost diet aid. According to FDA sources, the product contains herbal extracts and other ingredients which the
company says will help burn fat.
As of this post, the FDA hasn’t yet isolated the ingredient or ingredients which may be causing
the elevated liver enzymes and liver damage.
The company that makes Hydroxycut posted a statement on their website that they are voluntarily
stopping sale of the products.
