Liver Damage Prevention and Asparagus
The Atlanta Journal Constitution is reporting that asparagus may be beneficial for the liver, especially for those who like to imbibe...well...more
than they maybe should.
It's long been known that over indulgence in alcohol can cause liver damage...but there's now research that seems to indicate that eating asparagus can
help protect you from liver damage that results from drinking too much. No liver damage, no liver damage symptoms.
There's an additional benefit, according to the newspaper: asparagus helps relieve the hangover
that results from overdoing it.
A new study at the Institute of Medical Science and Jeju National University in South Korea came
up with the research. Scientists discovered that asparagus has certain amino acids and minerals appear to ease
hangovers and protect liver cells against the toxins in alcohol.
So drink up if you must. But be sure to eat your asparagus when you do ;-)
