Liver Pain Causes
There are a variety of causes of liver pain. Here are some of the most
common.
Ascites: fluid in the abdomen.
Chronic hepatitis: liver inflammation that lasts for at least 6 months.
Cirrhosis: A chronic liver disease resulting from damage by toxins
(especially alcohol).
Fatty liver disease: the accumulation of fat in the liver,
often caused by poor diet and eating too many fatty foods.
Gallstones: A small, stone like object, that forms in the
gallbladder or bile duct.
Gastritis: inflammation of the lining of the stomach. Stomach
ulcers are a form of gastritis.
Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS): a bowel disorder
characterized by abdominal pain and changes in bowel habits.
Leukemia: cancer of the blood-forming tissues,
Liver abscess: a pus-filled mass inside or attached to the liver.

Mononucleosis: A viral infection characterized by extreme fatigue, high fever,
and swollen lymph nodes.
Pancreatitis: inflammation of the pancreas, often accompanied
by abdominal pain.
Peptic ulcer: ulcerative damage to the mucosal lining of
the stomach or duodenum.
